ALAN STEWART, THE LONDON CHEF
Sit back, taste and relax, today we are meeting with chef Alan Stewart at La Esquina.
One dinner changed Alan’s life. After enjoying his tasty dishes, the owners of La Esquina hired him to run the kitchen of their new place in Barcelona.
Our guest chef was born in London 33 years ago and did his university studies in Manchester. After broad experience working in the kitchens of prestigious hotels, gastro pubs and Michelin starred restaurants in the United Kingdom, he moved to Barcelona, a city that he confesses he has fallen in love with.
Among his favourite dishes are those prepared with seasonal products.
Spain has this characteristic, that everyday, you can find fresh products at the market
At home he tries to cook simple and varied dishes, preferring spicy flavors, especially those made with curry.
For Alan, cooking is key to spending time with others.
It helps us socialize and break the ice
For those wishing to purde a career in cooking he suggests that they must be prepared for long hard working hours.
You have to be prepared to face difficult situations
He tells us that despite having very little free time, his career is very rewarding.
I don’t paint, nor write, but I express myself with my dishes
I want my clients at La Esquina to feel at home, a place where they can relax and enjoy our menu and leave with a good taste in their mouths.
La Esquina is located in the heart of Barcelona, a functional and cozy place that combines warm and noble materials like copper or wood and 20th Century Scandinavian furniture. There, you can enjoy anything from breakfast to an original menu that changes daily. You can also enjoy an authentic brunch on the weekends.
